With the outdoors being so close to our hearts, we have created our own variety of outdoor environments to be used to support our Forest kindergarten values and our passion for outdoor learning experiences.
Our Vegetable Patch
We are very fortunate to have a lovely big vegetable patch where we can grow our own fruit and vegetables from scratch with the children; so that they can learn about the process from planting a seed to picking the final product! Skills that they will take with them throughout their lifetime!
Our Secret Garden
This is where a lot of our Forest kindergarten sessions happen. In order to ensure these sessions safely we operate at a lower ratio of children to be able to offer closer supervision for some of those higher risk tasks. These activities are risk assessed each time to consider the needs of the children taking part, the weather and the activity. This way, we get to be inclusive for all children and offer sessions all year round, safely!
Our Pond
Our pond is home to lots of nature! Newts, Frogs, Tadpoles and other pond life can be found during the Spring, Summer and Autumn; for the children to discover and learn about. Pond dipping is a firm favourite for all of our Bluebells and Daisie's and Daffodil group children.
The Barn
This is our sheltered outdoor space where the children can participate in wood craft activities, examine their pond dipping findings, join in with some planting or potting, read stories, paint and draw!
Free-flow gardens
We are lucky to have so much, diverse outdoor space at our setting. We use the outdoors everyday, all year round, as an extension of our indoor provision. Each environment offers different learning opportunities but most importantly fond, lasting, early childhood memories.
